Storm the Beach!
Prior to D-day, waterproof bags were issued to soldiers to protect their side arms and ammunition from water damage.
This is an original, dated 1944, Military Waterproof Pistol Bag. The official name is – Covers, Waterproof, Pistol or Personal Effects.
The photograph shows how a pistol would fit in the bag. The bag does not come with the pistol.
The Stamp on the bag says “Covers, Waterproof, Pistor or Personal Effects, Specification P.Q.D No. 377-B, Stock No. 74-C-310-38, P.Q. 8652, Dated 12/13/44, Philadelphia QM. Depot”
