The 29th US Infantry Division was reactivated on February 3rd, 1941, based at Fort Meade, Maryland. The 29th is also known as the Blue & the Gray”. The division’s insignia is the Korean symbol of eternal life, called the monad. It is half blue and half gray in matching design. This design represents the tradition of the division, composed of men from both the North and the South, whose forefathers brought in the Union (blue) and Confederate (gray) Armies during the Civil War.
