This WWII Nurse T shirt is a reproduction of an original WWII Medical Corps PT shirt from a photograph. This WWII U. S. Army Nurse PT Shirt has Camp McCoy Wisconsin on the front with the Medical Caduceus having the letter “N” in the center.
Camp McCoy was an induction and basic training center for Army nurses. Camp McCoy also trained the 100th Infantry Battalion, the 2nd Infantry Division and the 76th Infantry Division. The nation’s first ordnance regiment, the 301st, came to Camp McCoy after basic training in North Carolina. Camp McCoy was the largest holding facility for Japanese POWs in the Continental US and also housed several thousand German and Korean POWs. In addition, the camp housed relocated Japanese-Americans from the West Coast.
During WWII, athletic style tshirts were available for purchase at the PX and were commonly used in training and athletic situations. PT shirts with a variety of different unit logos are well documented in many WWII photographs.
